Story behind this website’s name

Thengola (teṅṅōla) means leaf of coconut tree in Malayalam.

Why this name for my website?

Weaving coconut tree leaves was a yearly activity for women in my village during my childhood. When there was an excess of weaved leaves, we (me and other children in the neighbourhood) built a temporary hut using those under the leadership of a comparatively elder person in the group. The hut we built had magic powers ;) Sometimes it became a grocery shop. Sometimes a school. Sometimes a house. Sometimes a cave in a terrible forest. Sometimes it even became a palace! Just we, all the children together, needed to decide for all this to happen.

Like that hut, which was the material space for our imagination, I want this website to be a digital space for my imagination and thoughts while accepting the vulnerability of the space, similar to the childhood hut. There was another speciality to that hut. It was the place where we shared our knowledge, skills, candies, etc. In the same manner, I want this website to be a space for me to share my knowledge, skills, and candies with its visitors (just a metaphor, I have no plans to send you real candies). For all these reasons, I chose this name.
